Now, 33 years later, the Air Evac Lifeteam is the worlds largest air ambulance service with more than 130 bases across 15 states. Air Evac Lifeteam was established in 1985 by a group of citizens in West Plains, Mo. Our Starship National Air Ambulance service responds to children facing a range of life threatening situations from serious complications arising from normal childhood illnesses such as flu, to accidents such as drowning, car crashes and serious sporting injuries, as well as children suffering from heart conditions, seizures, meningitis and other severe infections. Air Evac Lifeteam operates the worlds largest fleet of more than 90 medically-equipped Bell 206 Long Ranger helicopters and has flown more than 120,000 people who were in critical need of care since its founding.
